Burma has been plagued by an ongoing civil war between the totalitarian government and militant groups, which has resulted in bloodshed, internally displaced people and cross-border migration and refugees.
The State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) is the Burmese military government ruling body responsible for the exploitation its citizens and country, especially repressing ethnic minorities. The Burmese junta raids through villages; burning and looting their livestock and crops, as a means of repressing and controlling. This ongoing conflict has left barren villages and impoverished victims who struggle for survival.
These various reason resulted a mass migration and flee of refugees to neighboring countries, especially to Thailand. Most of these refugees that arrived to refugee camps after 2006 are denied to be granted a refugee status and pressured to return to Burma while immigrants are living under the threat of exploitation and deportation.
An educational void emerged within the migrant community as they are excluded from attending Thai schools. Funding is required from external sources to alleviate this problem and to ensure a brighter future for these children. These new schools aim to teach the children to take a hold of their future and to realize their personal goals.
